Well, if you had been reading the Israeli press in recent days you would be convinced that the Messiah is amongst us. Yes, the Messiah has arrived and is about to lead the earth into a new era of peace and prosperity. The Messianic era has begun and the Savior is in the Holy Land.

The only problem is that the "Messiah" of the Israeli Left and the Israeli press (after all, pretty much the same people) is PLO terrorist Abu Mazen.

The Israeli Left and its amen choruses around the world are having problems controlling their bladders due to their excitement. Abu Mazen is to be the new "Palestinian Prime Minister". This is the entire set of "reforms" the whole world has been pressing Arafat and the PLO to implement, the reforms necessary to rescue the PLO from its pariah status and re-grant it world respectability, just as Peres and Beilin did in 1993.

The new PC reading of events is that Abu Mazen will nudge Arafat out of power, and make him a figurehead, a sort of Prince Charles with a hygiene problem and with hair on his face. Abu Mazen will then stop the violence and enter serious negotiations with Israel under US auspices and reach an eternal peace agreement based on the so-called "two state" solution, which we all know is in fact the three-state solution (Jordan, Israel, Palestine), which is also the interim solution sought by the PLO and the Arabs until they can implement their own two state solution (Jordan and Palestine).

Now in spite of all the hoopla in the press, in reality Abu Mazen is a nazi and a Holocaust Denier. He wrote his "PhD dissertation" in Moscow in the 80s based on showing there had never been any Holocaust. He is as pro-terror as Arafat, although he - like Arafat - might consider a temporary reduction in terror under the right circumstances if it buys him some real concessions and assets granted at the expense of Israel.

Any "deal" with Abu Mazen will be just like all the endless previous deals with Arafat. It will involve yet another unilateral ceasefire by Israel during which PLO atrocities continue, with demands by the Israeli Left to conduct negotiations for new appeasements "under fire", with rockets and missiles launched into Israel from the PLO areas, with denunciations of Israel by the whole world - including Washington - when Israel eventually retaliates, with demands for sanctions and boycotts upon Israel being organized by Israel's own Tenured Traitors, with denunciations of Israeli "apartheid" at Nuremberg marches around the world, and with increasing Beilinization of Ariel Sharon and the Likud.

Meanwhile, the Left and the press are so enamored with Abu Mazen that it reminds me of the reverence that the Lubavitchers show towards the last Lubavitch Rebbe. I expect soon to see large billboards along the highways, put up by Meretz and Mitzna's Labor Party, showing Abu Mazen in a black hat and coat waving at the cars and proclaiming that the Moshiach King is Here.

With Sharon's government playing the role of the Messiah's donkey.....
